Capper Langur
Two sub-species exist: hard ground barasingha: found in central india and swamp deer: found in north India. Males decorate their antlers with leaves and twigs during mating season.
Common throughout india. Habitat is forests, grasslands etc.
Restricted to the North Eastern parts of the country like assam. Was a victim of heavy poaching but recent protection measures have lead to a resurgence in numbers to around 1750 individuals.
Found all over India in forests, cultivated fields, grasslands etc. Eats practically anything.
IUCN status: Vunerable. Population around 3000. Mainy restrited to areas of little rann of kutch.
